Summer 2008 was undoubtedly the most productive summer in our ministry’s history.

The highlight was LEARN northeast leading a massive protest of the NAACP in Cincinnati. CBR Midwest partnered with us and as in times past our bond assured a successful venture with productive results. If we all could learn to just work together! While Cbr circled the NAACP convention with the truth trucks,  African American protesters from LEARN surrounded The Duke Energy Center with 13 X 4 foot signs and handed out material provided by Life Dynamics and Maryland Right To Life. We had to hand out over 12,000 pieces of literature. Engaging the delegates and fielding their questions is always helpful and wins new prophetic voices for the movement. LEARN charted two buses and drove form Montclair New Jersey to Cincinnati Ohio.. If you are reading this and contributed to our project forgive me if I have not thanked you personally! . I can boldly say your contribution was well spent and has contributed to the present movement that has begun with Afro-Americans. We received National attention and I am corresponding with groups from California to New Jersey on how to be more effective in pro-life ministry in the Black community.

We have other NAACP charters willing to write resolutions requesting information and discussion on the abortion issue in next years convention. (New York)  I am eternally grateful to the 70 people (including two great bus drivers ) who traveled far to stand for the rights of those who cannot stand for themselves  While there Students For Life along with a coalition of other Black Pro-life leaders, Levon Yuille, Stepehen Broaden,

Arnold Culbreath, Alveda King, Day Gardner, Ceaser Leflore led a press conference in front of the convention center. Of course  we divinely choose the day Barack Obama was going to address the NAACP. The schedule the NAACP distributed said Thursday but we choose Monday, so did Obama. Thus there was plenty of media around that day! The plight of the unborn was heard by much of the delegates that attended the convention. It was a significant event for the sake of the unborn. World Magazine as well as the local media, USA Today was just some of the media that covered the event.

In mid August we received a call to assist New Jersey Right to life in a counter protest of Planned Parenthood in Teaneck. Planned Parenthood was attempting to protest presidential nominee John McCain. With the help of New Jersey Right to life we charted a bus and joined them. It appeared we out numbered Planned Parenthood and the war protesters 3 to one. The incident was basically peaceful but telemundo a national Spanish cable  station covered the event and broadcasted me coming between a war protestor and one of my faithful members of our church. Our Deacon felt the war on the womb was more significant than the war in Iraq. There were a few heated exchanges especially when someone who claimed to be a nurse with a Masters degree stating there are no abortions in the US past 6 months. Statements like that shows you how ill informed our society can be.  To make it worse she never knew the next town over Englewood reported in one year 1500 partial birth abortions, yes in one year!

I had the pleasure of doing a many radio interviews but it appears that the Keidi Obi Awadu radio program Living In Black on www.libradio.com and WPGC 1580 Washington Dc stirred their Black audience to action! LEARN put out a press release on the deplorable degrading website of Planned Parenthood’s Take Care Down There. There are a series of disgusting videos and one of them showed an African American teenage male giving oral sex to a white teenage male under the auspices of a white counselor.

Many of the callers were supportive and I challenged the audience to let their voices be heard. LEARN as well as other pro-life groups sent letters to Cecil Richards requesting Planned Parenthood to remove the website and desist from depicting African Americans in demeaning acts. Well as of September 23^rd the videos were removed. We all can rejoice in a victory for decency and virtue but it lets us know our voices united together can make a difference! The end of the month of August was a spent counter protesting the DNC with Bob Enyart and Leslie Hanks and American Right To Life in Denver. Wow what a time and everyday was eventful. I spoke at radio personality and pastor Bob Enyart’s church Sunday Morning and attended the Inner faith service at the DNC with Bishop Harold  Porter an original founder of the Promise Keepers. I had the opportunity to do an interview with a Washington reporter on why the need for an interfaith service. Monday we began “Power In the Park”. The rally was staged right across the street from the largest Planned Parenthood facility in the nation! In the spirit for which the park was named after, Martin Luther King, we heralded the message of life and demonstrated and prayed in front of the killing station for 3 days. I joined the other speakers Alan Keys, Flip Benham and Jessie Lee Peterson.

Local activist Ken and Joann Scott were the spiritual facilitators of the event and God really honored their efforts. They arranged for me to be interviewed on the largest morning gospel program in Denver. While we engaged the morning drive in Denver  of in the distance on “Look Out Mountain” Bob Enyarts tribute to the DNC

was being deployed. The largest sign in the world compiled of 2,400 bed sheets and over 4 miles of thread and a multitude of volunteers  were used to construct this record breaking feat. The worlds largest sign! 530 feet high and 666 foot wide sign which read Destroys Unborn Children. While in Denver Democrats For life asked me to speak at their forum. Kristen Day has her work cut out for her and though I was disappointed with some of the commentary by certain dignitaries I was encouraged to see that the issue of abortion is not completely dead and Democrats For Life is to be commended. http://truthbeltbuckled.blogspot.com/2008/09/power-in-park-part-2.html

 The last day Alan Keys was in town we were all at the abortion clinic to peacefully protest.. We left to go to the park to pray again and close out our service .While we were gone security for Planned Parenthood took the signs that were resting against their fence. This basicly went unnoticed for a while and it was Alan Keys who was driving off  noticed the guards taking the signs. Keys jumped out of his car and raced down the street yelling thief, thief and went onto their property and wrestled the signs away (2) from the security officer. They had managed to get 4 other signs and by that time the profilers including myself, wife, Jessie Lee Peterson had crossed the barriers and were on the property of Planned Parenthood demanding the return of the signs. Flip Benham addressed the officer in charge and stated , we can do this one of two ways, either you can go get our signs and return them or we can go get the signs ourselves” The officer looked for a few awkward seconds, assessed the situation and went and got the signs! Wow, what a few days in Denver with some great pro-lifers who are serious about saving babies and confronting the culture.

Travel is expensive and cost often determines the response so if you are not begin to be a faithful contributor to our national work that is growing in number and effectiveness. We are a viable force to be reckoned with and we will not turn back till every child is protected from fertilization (conception) till birth. Every dollar counts.
